Morgan Plus 4 SLR, chassis #SLR2, #SLR3, #SLR4
In 1962 Chris Lawrence paired with Richard Shepherd-Baron obtained a historic class victory at Le Mans 24 hours driving a Morgan Plus 4 modified by Lawrence himself, equipped with a 2.1 liter Triumph engine. At the beginning of 1964, Chris Lawrence, inspired by the Morgan Pus 4 class victory at Le Mans designed the Morgan Plus 4 SLR in collaboration with John Sprinzel, the famous driver of touring and rally cars of the late 1950s. Intended for small scale production, the SLR (SLR = Sprinzel Lawrence Racing) was officially presented at the Racing Car Show in London in 1964. Only three cars were produced the SLR2, SLR3 and SLR4 in addition to the first model the SLR1, which used the chassis of a Triumph TR4. Two of the three cars were destined to customers and one, the SLR3, remained at the same designer and driver Lawrence. The car featured a very streamlined, aerodynamic bodywork made of aluminum that did not resemble any of the Morgan's produced to that date. The car used (except the first produced) the chassis of the modified Morgan Plus 4 and also the engine was the same 2.1-liter 4-cylinder Triumph derivation of the Morgan Plus 4 but with the modified head and with new Weber carburetors that increased the power up to 165 hp. All 3 Morgan Plus 4 SLR were used intensively in racing, often driven by Chris Lawrence himself and they still exist, beautifully restored and beautifully on track.

Morgan Plus 4 SLR chassis #SLR2
The Morgan Plus 4 SLR2, was the first of three built using the chassis of the Morgan 4 Plus. It was built for Gordon Spice who suffered an accident at the Goodwood debut race and the car had to be rebuilt. Once repaired, the car returned to the track for many seasons.

La Morgan Plus 4 SLR2, fu la prima delle tre costruita utilizzando il telaio della Morgan 4 Plus. Fu costruita per Gordon Spice il quale subì un incidente alla gara del debutto a Goodwood e la vettura dovette essere ricostruita. Una volta riparata tornò in pista per molte stagioni.
