One of the last Beta Group5, the 1009 official chassis in Martini livery, was first used at Daytona 24 Hours 1981. Shared by Michele Alboreto, Beppe Gabbiani and Piercarlo Ghinzani, was forced to retire due to a  broken valve. Mechanical problems also hindered subsequent competitions in Europe. For the Le Mans 24 Hours, the car was led by Eddie Cheever, Michele Alboreto and Carlo Facetti. With a 400 hp detuned engine for reliability reasons, the crew achieved the eighth overall position and the win in the class up to 2 litres. For the 1982 season, the car was entered to the Italian Scuderia Vesuvio team and ran into the modest success of the World Championship. At the 1982 Le Mans 24 Hours, the car was entered by Jean-Marie Lemerle to which Joe Castellano and Max Cohen-Olivar added. They ended up in the twelfth place and added a class win for second time. At the end of 1982 the Lancia Beta Monte Carlo Turbo chassis 1009 was withdrawn from contemporary racing. Restored with official colours, it was bought by a Swiss enthusiast, remained in a museum until 2007 when it was auctioned. More recently, it was restored to full race conditions

 Una delle ultime Beta Gruppo5 costruite, il telaio 1009 ufficiale e nella livrea Martini, venne utilizzata per la prima volta alla 24 Ore di Daytona 1981. Condivisa da Michele Alboreto, Beppe Gabbiani e Piercarlo Ghinzani, fu costretta  al ritiro a causa della rottura di una valvola. Problemi meccanici  ostacolarono anche le successive gare in Europa. Per la 24 Ore di Le Mans, la vettura fu guidata da Eddie Cheever, Michele Alboreto e Carlo Facetti. Con il motore depotenziato a 400 CV per motivi di affidabilità, l’equipaggio ottenne l’ottavo posto assoluto e la vittoria nella classe sotto i 2 litri. Per la stagione 1982, la vettura fu affidata al team Italiano Scuderia Vesuvio e corse nel Campionato del Mondo modesto successo. Alla 24 Ore di Le Mans 1982, la vettura fu iscritta da Jean-Marie Lemerle al quale si aggiunsero al volante Joe Castellano e Max Cohen-Olivar. Terminarono al dodicesimo posto assoluto e aggiunsero una seconda vittoria di classe. Alla fine del 1982 la Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo chassis 1009 fu ritirata dalle corse contemporanee. Restaurata con i colori ufficiali, fu acquistata da un appassionato svizzero, rimase in un museo fino al 2007 quando fu venduta all’asta. Più di recente è stata riportata nelle condizioni di gara.
