TOJ, the acronym for "Team Obermoser Jorg", was a team formed by the driver Jorg Obermoser in 1974. At the beginning he competed with 2-liter GRD sports cars but later, in 1976, he started the construction of original prototypes both 2 litres than 3 litres. The TOJ SC304 was designed by former Porsche designer Kurt Chabek, (who designed the Formula 1 Kauhsen WK1 monocoque in 1978) and Dieter Baatz. The German sports car had a very conventional aluminium monocoque and was equipped with the three-litre Ford Cosworth DFV engine, coupled with a Hewland gearbox and was characterized by a rather short wheelbase. The front suspension, of a conventional type, consisted of two overlapping triangles with a stabilizing bar and an inclined external shock absorber spring group. The rear suspension was also very classic, with two lower parallel arms, two radial rods and one upper link bolted to a casting structure that surmounted the differential. The casting structure also included the attachments for the rear strengthening bars of the roll-bar, and those of the stabilizer bar, as well as supporting the cooling air ducts for the rear brakes, with the discs placed on the sides of the differential. The scheme was the classic one of the Formula 1 equipped with the Cosworth DVF of the same period. The aerodynamic aspect was very accurate, characterized by a full-width rear wing with a V-shape, supported by a central extension of the engine hood and two side fins. Three specimens of the SC304 type were built in 1976, which differed slightly in the location of the cooling systems and in the aerodynamic configuration. Between 1976 and 1977 the Toj SC304s participated in some races of the Interserie championship, at the 500 km of Dijon in 1976 and at the 500 km of Monza in 1977. In 1976 the drivers Heinz Schulthess, Jean-Claude Lagniez and Max Antichan failed to qualify at the 24 hours of Le Mans. Among the drivers who drove the SC304 in the race, in addition to Jorg Obermoser himself, were the Germans Rolf Stommelen and Kurt Hild.
