For 1974 Robin Herd designed a new car, the March 741, which was a logical derivation of the previous model, the March 731, which in turn derived from the 721G. The car with conventional aluminium monocoque and conventional suspensions had a slightly longer wheelbase than the model of the previous year and the water radiators longitudinally placed next to the engine that was the usual Ford Cosworth DFV.
Nothing out of the ordinary, except for the big rear wing, with long side fins, almost to the ground and wide wing surface. Among the side fins, two oil radiators were positioned under the wing.

The two drivers for the 1974 season were Howden Ganley and Hans Joachim Stuck but, after the Brazilian Grand Prix, Howden Ganley was replaced by the Monzese Vittorio Brambilla who brought with him the beautiful orange colour of the sponsor Beta Utensili. On several occasions, the March Engineering Team drivers demonstrated the good qualities of the car, with excellent results in practice, often frustrated by mechanical failures or by the driver's impetuosity. The car in the photos is the reconstruction of the chassis # 2 which was the car used throughout the season by Vittorio Brambilla. March built only two cars for the 1974 season, 741-1 and 741-2, but due to the exuberance of the drivers Stuck and Brambilla, both chassis were damaged several times and needed to be replaced (twice for Stuck and three times for Brambilla). The reconstructed chassis were not renumbered but always kept the original numbers.
