5th Rally dell'Autodromo di Monza, November 6-7, 1982
Rain, cold, mud and a lot of spectacle: This is my memory of the fifth edition of the Monza Rally in 1982. The Rally of Monza was unique for its characteristics. The race was invitational, the route remained secret until a few hours before the departure and wandered between the track and the paved and dirt roads in the autodromo's fence. The track included a completely dirt path, a completely asphalt path, a mixed asphalt/dirt path and the Grand Prix speed test that was held on the Junior circuit slowed down by some chicans. All 205 kilometres, divided into two stages, one Saturday and one Sunday.
Fourth victory (on five editions) by Federico Ormezzano, supported by a spectacular Lancia Stratos in front of the monzese Nando Cazzaniga who descended from his usual Formula 3 occasionally and successfully, at the rally with Lancia Stratos Group 4. The third place was conquered by the Group 4 Ferrari 308 GTB driven by "Menes". The victory at the Rally of Monza in 1982 represents the last victory of a Lancia Stratos.
